Introduction



Generally the Tagalog word Sa is a place marker. Sometimes it acts as a demonstrative or as a possessive marker.


Possessive Sa


FORM : Sa + Possessive Prononoun

Sa combined with a possessive pronoun is more grammatically correct than just saying a possessive pronoun alone.

Usage:
Sa akin. ~ Mine
Para sa'yo. ~ For you.

FORM : Sa + Possessive Pronoun in "ng" form + possession



FORM : Sa + Common Noun
Sa aso 'yan. ~ That's for the dog.
Sa nanay ko 'yan. ~ That's my mom's.

Demonstrative Sa


FORM : Sa + Place
FORM : Sa + Preposition
FORM : Sa + Time

Sa combined with a possessive pronoun in ng form turns into a demonstrative which can be translated to English in, to, at,  or from.

Sa umaga't, sa gabit, sa bawat minutong lumilipas hinahanap-hanap kita. ~ In the morning, night, every minute that passes by I'm longing for you.

Pupunnta ako sa gubat. ~ I will go to the forest.
Galing ako sa gubat. ~ I came from the forest.
Sa ngayon ligtas s'ya. ~ For now he's safe.
